A 3D concrete printing prefabrication platform for bespoke columns

Recent developments in computational design and digital fabrication with concrete enable the realization of freeform geometries that optimize material use. 3D Concrete extrusion Printing (3DCP) is presently one most utilized methods concrete. The expected advantages 3DCP result from shaping without formwork placing only where functionally required. Although these were pointed out more than 20 years ago, it difficult to find competitive examples their usage real buildings. Consequently, nonspecific character process acts as a shortcoming by opening up extensive possibilities clear direction. This paper proposes an automated prefabrication platform for customized columns. process-specific parameters are, therefore, fine-tuned high-quality products diverse forms textures. Additionally, this evaluation method geometric complexity identifies types column typologies may benefit platform.
